First of all, Congratulations on your registration for the DollarMakers Joint Venture Broker Bootcamp, happening this coming Monday, June 23rd, 2008, in Winnipeg, Canada. We STRONGLY RECOMMEND you bring your "significant other" or another family member. Please phone me for financial details (Andrew 204-480-6606). You will be surprised.

This is your Final Confirmation and Follow-up for the Event.
The JV Bootcamp will run Monday from 8:25 AM to 6:35 PMWe will have the room until 8:30 PM or so, if you wish to stay and chat with other Joint Venture brokers, or perhaps with Robin.
Rika Elliott will be hosting a DollarMakers Women's Club Sunday evening. A buffet supper begins the experience at 5:30 pm with the formal meeting to follow from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Gentlemen are welcome for the dinner but ladies only at the formal meeting please. We find these "women's only" meetings highly gratifying and splendid in terms of boosting the ladies' effectiveness, confidence, and ambition to do what they truly dream about. You might be greatly surprised at how well ladies work together and inspire each other. The cost of the Women's meeting is included in the Bootcamp fee. You need only pay for your own meal.
On Tuesday morning, June 24th, Robin & Rika will be hosting a private breakfast from 10:00 am to 11:30am. This is a "by invitation only" event. If you would like to be invited, please contact me (Andrew 204-480-6606). The breakfast is for eager action takers exclusively. This is a rare opportunity to meet the Elliotts personally and ask them your special question. Again, the cost of the  meeting is included in the Bootcamp fee. You need only pay for your own breakfast.

WHAT TO BRING
Although what to bring varies from person to person, we recommend:
  • Business Cards or some sort of contact information for your business or yourself.
  • A Sweater or Jacket in case the room is too cool for some people
  • Pen and Paper (notepads and pens will be provided however you can never have be too prepared
  • Lunch is not provided however we do have Coffee, Tea and water at our breaks. There are two good restaurants in the hotel: Aaltos Buffet & Tavern United, and some excellent restaurants a very short drive away. Details will be provided at the Bootcamp on your best options.

Although people can come as they see fit for a Business Seminar, we recommend:

  • No hats or baseball caps will be allowed
  • No flip-flops (please).

And whether you do your taxes yourself, take them to your accountant, or a tax preparation service, there are some ways to make tax time a positive experience.

5 ways to stop spending and start saving

1. Admit you overspend on certain items and commit to cutting back in your worst areas.

2. Learn to adjust – if you spend more on travel and shopping, then maybe cut down on entertainment.

3. Be creative – instead of taking a taxi or bus try walking or riding your bike. Likewise if you eat out more than once or twice a week, don't order dessert and cut down on alcohol. This will benefit your health and wallet.

4.Try to budget for bigger expenses – just $10 a day over a few months really adds up, but you must be religious about adding to your daily savings.

5. Pay yourself first. That is, make "savings" a real monthly expense, just like your utility bills or your telephone bill.

Tax time is just about here. For some of us that invokes a sinking feeling, for others it sparks a sense of anticipation and the burning question — What will you do with your tax refund?

Here's a novel idea: how about using it to improve your credit?

You can and it's very simple. You just have to come to grips with a few things first.

For starters, recent surveys have found many Canadians paying off tens of thousands in credit card debt, with 90 percent saying they're deeper in debt now than five years ago.

If you are one of these average Canadians carrying too much debt right now, using your tax refund is a smart and easy way to pay it down. And the best part is, reducing your debt can boost your credit, improve the credit offers you receive and save you a lot of money in interest charges. Sure, that might not be as fun and exciting as a spontaneous long weekend in the Caribbean, but when you think of the long-term value of reducing debt and improving your credit, well, sacrificing your fun in the sun today may help you afford a lot more vacations in the future.

Here are a couple of quick pointers on how you can start paying down and reducing some of your debt, too:

Pay off your debt rather than moving it around

The most effective way to improve your credit in this area is by paying down your revolving credit. In fact, owing the same amount but having fewer open accounts may actually lower your score.

Make more than your minimum

First, break the habit of only paying the minimum. Paying only the minimum and only a fraction of the interest is exactly what the banks want you to do. The longer you take to repay the charges, the more interest they make, and the less cash you have in your pocket. Pay as much as you can afford each month.

Target your debt payments

Consider starting off by paying the most you can toward the credit card with the highest interest rate. Pay it off as quickly as possible. Then move on to the card whose interest rate is almost as high, and so on, until you have paid them all off as quickly as possible.

If you must, turn to your savings account

Ok, this is a last resort. No one wants to dip into or deplete their hard-earned savings, but if you're using it to pay off a 28.8% Annual Percentage Rate credit card, it's essentially the same as getting that 28.8% return without any risk on your part. The higher the interest rate on your debt, the more attractive repayment versus savings becomes.

Renegotiate terms with your creditors

Many creditors are willing to do this. All you
have to do is ask. You have nothing to lose and in many cases you can shave 3, 4 or even 5 percent off your Annual Percentage Rate. And you'll pay down your debt faster.

My credit profile shows two credit cards that were charged-off and are now included in bankruptcy. I did not recognize these accounts, but after investigating found that they were old joint accounts with my mother, who recently declared bankruptcy. How can I get these removed from my credit?

Hi Cheryl,

Unfortunately, even though the accounts may be closed, they will remain on your credit profile for some time to come and continue to affect your credit. Although you did not file bankruptcy, this account was a commitment that you made with your mother. While her bankruptcy records will remain on her credit profile for 7-10 years, this account will continue to report on both of your files for six years from the time you first missed the payment prior to it being included in bankruptcy. However, there is a lot that you can do to improve your credit now. TransUnion has a host of articles dedicated to credit management topics online.

Bear in mind that positive records (such as closed accounts that were never paid late) can also remain on your credit profile and will only help your credit score.

More than 3,500 Screens Deployed as Company Continues National Rollout

of the Nation's Premier Pump Top TV Network and Adds ABC News Programming

 

Santa Fe Springs, CA -- Westinghouse Digital, one of the top five LCD manufacturers in the U.S., announced today that the company has completed deployment of Westinghouse gas pump TV systems in four major demographic areas on the West Coast, reaching over 8 million viewers per month.  The company has installed 3,500 specially-designed LCD screens as part of Adtek Media's PumpTopTV network in major brand gas stations in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Sacramento.  The installations are part of the company's previously announced commitment to build systems throughout the U.S., including networks in Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and Boston in 2008.   

 

"With the addition of San Francisco and Sacramento markets to the initial launch of operations in Los Angeles and San Diego, PumpTop TV is now accessible by 10% of the U.S. population," said Doug Woo, President of Westinghouse Digital.  "Actual viewership levels now exceed 8 million people per month.  Over the next twelve months, we expect to deploy 20,000 screens and expand our viewership to close to 40 million as our national roll out proceeds according to plan."

 

The PumpTop TV network features daily news, weather, sports and entertainment programming and real-time traffic data from multiple media partners, including ABC News.  ABC produces a daily line of news features for PumpTop TV through its "ABC News NOW" property, a 24-hour digital cable network available to out-of-home digital media.  The PumpTop TV programming "wheel" is supported through advertising.

 

The PumpTop TV network is part of Westinghouse Digital's larger, longer-term commitment to combine purposed content with unique hardware designed to reach viewers in specific situations.  "Westinghouse Digital is working with content providers to take the lead in expanding – and even breaking – the traditional boundaries of hardware, with the intent to create new and compelling viewer experiences," said Woo.

 

Westinghouse gas pump TV systems reflect integration at the manufacturer level – with full manufacturer support – to address the unique functional needs of outdoor displays intended for viewers pumping gas.  Woo added "Westinghouse has leveraged its strong internal engineering and supply chain relationships up to the LCD panel level, along with its partnership with Adtek Media, to create an end-to-end solution in the gas pump TV market, blending content, hardware, software and network, and satisfying the needs of gas stations owners, viewers, content providers, and the advertisers that support them. We intend to address other vertical markets with equally unique combinations in ways that only a full integrated hardware provider, like Westinghouse Digital, can deliver."

 

PumpTop TV uses customized 19-inch Westinghouse displays to provide drivers an engaging diversion during their five minutes of fueling time.  PumpTop TV also offers a unique screen layout which displays news and advertising simultaneously.  This format provides a more compelling consumer experience in the gas station environment and offers content owners and advertisers multiple areas of "real estate" to deliver programming and messaging.
